Aahhh, the grasses- a multitude of colors, sizes, textures. And most all with tantalizing motion in the summer breezes. Here's a smattering of favorites….
A little Peace of Mind
It's lovely to return to some of my gardens and get a glimpse of life there after I am long gone. Does it have the earmarks of a place they enjoy, inhabit often? Is it possibly a little ragged here and there but shows some tender care on the whole? Are there chairs and dining that look like they are well used? A nightly glass of wine when the weather allows, a snippet of herbs for dinner plucked from the garden?
I did a surprise drop by a client's as I was in the neighborhood and despite her feeling like she should be cleaning for the cleaning person when I arrived unannounced, I just kind of loved that the garden is clearly a part of her every day life- tweaking to be done, the sounds and the birds to be enjoyed. A little peace of mind to be found there...
Have I ever met an Acer I didn't love?
Summertime
This is a fresh start- new website, new blog, new me? Not so much. The flurry and madness of the spring rush is dying down. Love this business but I'm always pretty exhausted by May 31 year in and out. Somehow, I mentally turned a corner this weekend and have all my windows open 24/7- breathing in fresh air and choosing to be more relaxed. That includes walks and puttering in my own garden- setting out tomatoes for the first time ever after the cold nights have actually past.
I am so lucky to live close to the arboretum- no effort to walk there and appreciate the gift this city has- green, green, green.
